AS far as the flanges go your new pipes should come with a 4 sets. DONT BREAK THEM APART. its so much easier when both side are connected. Take your time and dont tighten anything until all pipes are on and nuts are on bolt studs. then I just kept tightening them down a little on each one until all were snug
Let me know about the jet kit and what you think about it. Working on engine on mine now, jet kit is next on the block

Scratch that, one side has to break apart of flanges in order to get on pipes, but I am sure you figured that out!

I had figured that. Otherwise how can you expect the header to stick to the head? Lol, if nothing is gripping it from that side, then it'll just slide out.
So the flange portion (where it flares out) goes towards the motor, and the flat portion goes towards the front of the bike, right? Basically goes between the header and the finned piece? And a copper crush washer goes between the half moons and the head?
If so, I think I got this. Just need to track down the washers locally.

I got my crush washers from vintagecb750. Choose DOHC from the dropdown at the top:
http://www.vintagecb750.com/products/7/exhaust$7 for a 4 pack. If you need them today though a honda dealer should have them for about $3-4 each.

Yeah, I'm going to try to get some today. Everything else comes in via UPS tomorrow, so I'll be making a mad dash to get everything running Saturday evening or Sunday. Since I've got drinking plans tomorrow and Color Run Craziness Sat. morning, we'll see if that happens.
Thanks Sees!

Hi guys, I was browsing online and found your thread, it turns out that i too am having the same issue dealing with Exhaust leaks on my cb750. I just purchased a Mac 4-1 headers and exhaust kit, and ordered the crush washers to install, I got both sets of flanges for the headers and tried everything to get this d*mn thing to work but had no success. I tried putting the over the headers at one point as well (opened the flanges and carefully slid them on) but still keep getting exhaust leaks. I ordered another set of crush washers in case i ruined the ones i already have. Can someone shed some light on this issue?

The stock headers have more of a lip on them than the MAC purchased ones, has anyone thought about welding a piece of steel to act as that 'washer' on them?

I have seen people put the half moon spacers in backwards, and have the problems you have encountered on several occasions before, but never seen a fitment issue with the MAC systems.

How did you get around the exhaust leak issue? what is the proper way to install the MAC system with the spacers? Any help is appreciated, thanks

I turned the half moon spacers around. Try that.

Thanks TOOLS i will definitely try that tonight, hopefully i can still find the OEM half moon spacers. Have you used the MAC spacers? They come in 2 different sets much like the first pic in this thread. If i cant find all of them what do you suggest on the MAC spacers? I tried both sizes and played around with how to place them in the headers...but no luck..

If you use the MAC half moons, the flanged end goes towards the collar. Yours should take the narrow half moons, but if they are too short, try the wide ones. The stock ones are the ones I see put in backwards. Honda did make two different styles. On the stock half moons your bike should have had should have two flanges. One on the end, and one in the center. The flanged end on the stock half moons will go toward the head, and the non flanged end will slide into the finned collars.

Thanks TOOLS looks like i got my evening already planned. I wasnt sure if i should have separated the MAC half moons initially, maybe that will do the trick.

I've been trying to figure this out all morning and hope (if I have got it right) this will help. I can understand visuals better than words so maybe some of you out there will appreciate this. I will be using the small flanges supplied by Mac. Will let you know if I am successful. Also, I agree that new crush washers are a requirement.
