For sale early cb750's

Luey336
I need to sell a few of my bikes, but don't know what to ask. All four are mint cb750's that look like they just left the show room. I have two 71's (gold and red) a blue 75 and an orange 74. I see some on crags list for up to $3500 and some less than $1500.  These are all near perfect push buttons bikes and I think they should be worth more than what my dad paid for them new. What is the least I should ask?

I've got a mint CB750K with 7K original miles.  The going rate for CB750s seems to be between $800-$1500 depending upon condition and history.  With 400,000 of these bikes imported to the US, they are not exactly a difficult bike to find. Good luck.

You're doing the right research: ask on a bunch of forums, look at EBay or Craigslist, factor in your local geographic area (some bikes are worth more in different states/countries), maybe even have the bikes appraised by a good vintage bike shop or a MC museum.

One piece of advice: be realistic and honest about the condition, and prepare to have someone pick on your bikes.  They may be looking for little things to criticize, to bring the price down.

Watch e-Bay...  I've seen mint-condition, early CB750's go for $3k+.  It is just crazy, sometimes.  Other times, the bidding never takes off.

If you list it on e-Bay, make sure you take 6+ photo's, and pay e-Bay to feature them in your ad -- the more photo's, the better.  Keep an eye on how much your ad will cost you, for all of the photo's.  Put in a reserve price of the absolute minimum you are willing to accept, and put your starting price no more than $500 below that, or you may run into bids that never meet your reserve price.  Make certain to point out any/all flaws in your bikes, in the text of the ads.  Take photo's of the defects, up close, so that bidders can't claim you deceived them, later.  Be careful on how you take payment -- cash is always the best!

Spend the time to learn e-Bay's policies, before you list...  Afterwards, it will be too late, and you may have handed someone enough rope to hang you with.  Selling them on e-Bay is likely your best option, for maximizing your cash-out, as you will reach a m-u-c-h larger audience, with deeper pockets.  There may have been hundreds of thousands of these bikes imported into the US of A, but very few are in near-mint condition, or better.  Cheers!
