Found a cam chain video. Is this accurate?

ETFerguson
I'm going to adjust my cam chain on my 82' cb750k. I've heard there is only one tensioner bolt that you can loosen then tighten again with or without the bike running. This guys does it manually it looks like but with three separate bolts. Is this just the manual method? I wanted to try it without taking my tank and valve covers off first. What method is this in the video and is this the best option for me on my bike?

Video

Thanks!

That is one way of doing it, and is close to how I do it. However you do not need to remove the valve cover, and you do not need to be spinning the engine while tightening/adjusting the adjusters. You just need to turn the crankshaft a little bit to remove any slack. I usually turn the crank until I feel compression, and stop. Then tighten the adjusters.

Thanks tools! By "feel compression" do you mean that the turning the crank it starts to feel tighter? I fear my chain is worn and I'll need to get a new one next year. I guess then I'll really need to take the valve covers off

When you feel the crank getting harder to turn, that is the engine coming up on a compression stroke.
