Frame Question

vulcanmediator
While dismantling my 79 750 10th anniversary ltd, what appeared to be a very unusual feature was noted: the right side of the frameis not solid. it does not appear to have been cut, but appears as if it was made that way.  Is this normal, or is something  unusual here?
I tried looking in the various on-line and Clymer's manual, but no mention was made.
It seems as if there are numerous people on this site who have totally stripped down various similar bikes in the past, so I look forward to your comments.
cheers,

I really don't know about that model but my Goldwing has a sub-frame about 1 1/2' long on the left side for engine removal and was made this way. You can't get that one out without it. Someone might have done something similar if it was not made that way.

It is normal for the twin cam bikes to have a removable frame section. With a bit of a balancing act you can place a floor jack under the oil pan and roll the engine out of the frame while it is on the center stand.
