Front Forks

Honda Heretic
Hi All, I have a 1982 Honda CB750C that I've been slowly customizing. At the moment, I have fitted 41mm forks from a CBR600 F2. I'd like to fit larger forks, 43mm or more, onto the bike but I'm not sure if this is possible. I know the CBR600 F3 forks are shorter. I read that I could fit thicker forks if I switched to USD but no triple clamps exist unless I have them made. Does anyone know if I could fit the beefier forks from another manufacturer or if they exist in the aftermarket realms? Thanks, HH

Here is a link to a bearing conversion table. You should be able to use any forks as long as, you have the triple trees. http://www.allballsracing.com/index.php/forkconvertion

Tools,

Thanks for the link, but after I plugged in my bike in their search engine, the results didn't help. Even the disclaimer on the site states:

Warning

This front-end conversion search is based on bearing size ONLY! Stem length may be vary from machine to machine making some combinations unworkable. As a result of front-end conversion, rake and trail may be altered, adversely affecting handling of the vehicle.

All the compatible models listed showed the same size top and bottom bearing sizes with no indication of stem length. How do I figure this out then?

All, you need to do is measure the length of the stems, and cut/shim, or extend as needed. I have put all kinds of front ends on different bikes. Worst case scenario is to change the steering heads from frame to frame. However if, you do this check with your locale authority's about registering it. You might have to register it as the bike the steering head came off of since that is where the serial numbers are.
