Gas leak from carb overflow ports, carb is clean and floats are new

Hey there mates,

So I've got a 1979 Honda cb 750 k here.  Bought it a few weeks ago and it didn't run.  Turns out my ignition wires were switched.  Re-did those and took it for a few spins around the block, but noticed a pretty constant gas leak out of my carb overflow ports.  Got new floats in the mail today as well as 4 carb rebuild kits.  Put in the new floats, but not the new carp parts yet because it seems like all the carb parts it came with are pretty much brand new.  Pulled the gas tank off the bike and hooked it up to the carb and boom, gas leak again.

The bike didn't come with a fuel line so I threw one together.  Im not certain, but could the problem be that the diameter of my fuel line is to large, putting too much weight down on the float stopper (needle?) causing it to be forced down despite the carb being full?

Im pretty lost here, any suggestions?

Thanks mates

No.
If gas is coming out the overflows, you have one of three problems, or a combination of all three. 1 you floats are dried out and not floating like they should. 2 your float needle is not sealing in the seat. 3 the little brass tubes in the float bowel are cracked.
