Gave Donna a small makeover

I was embarrassed to show too much of my bike before, but now that I finally fixed the ripped seat I'm building up self-esteem.  Got it and the back rest reupholstered for $37 dollars with vinyl.

Also, a friend built the fuse cover for me out of sheet metal.  I didn't pay enough attention when he was measuring and when he finished installing it I realized it hangs too low for my taste (the original cap does not go that low).  But I'm glad my fuses are no longer exposed.  I'm of  finding a hard plastic CB750 logo (as in the original) to glue on there but if that's hard to find or expensive, I will paste a CB750 decal.  I will take advantage of the size of the cap and put reflective stickers on it (since a  lady cut off into my lane from behind a few days ago, carelessly, nearly wiping me down, I am more encouraged than ever to be visible).  

As you can see I currently have a blank template of a fuse lid so suggestions are welcome.

A cover is a cover as long as you are not showing all your goods. lol

I don't think it looks bad. Nice clean place for art work or stickers.

This one is extremely simple, if a fuse blows there better be a screwdriver nearby to get the cover off.  The screws you see are attached to 2 L-brackets made of aluminum which in turn are bolted to the original holes on the bike's frame.  The bottom hole in the frame is not being used, so the lid "hangs" from the two brackets I put on top but the metal is rigid enough not to flap out on its own.  The best I can do is duplicate this cover and the brackets on an unpainted sheet of metal and mail it to you.  I would have to figure out a cost but obviously it has to be cheaper than any OEM version.

As for the stickers I'm planning to use, I think a buddy who works in banner shop can get reflective raw material to make custom reflective decals.  Should look way cooler than the plain reflective stickers that commercial trucks have, all I have to do is figure out a cool design to get them cut into in his sticker machine.

I made these out of sheet alum. Just cut size and design, drill some holes near the edges and zip tied to the frame.

I wonder if the hole placements are in a different area on a 1981 CB750K. Its likely. I'm going to visit the local shoe repair store tomorrow (if it doesn't rain on my way home) and see if I can get some leather to make 2 side covers for mine. While leather isn't water proof, it will at least keep the rain from being directly forced into the connections. The main fuse blew in July, so I put a 30-amp weather-resistant (proof?) adapter in its place. Works just fine.

So that's what I'm going to attempt for now. We'll see.
