Getting a new title for my 750?

samir_nayanajaad
Tools I hope you read this as you know everything and because you live in the same state as me. It may save me an entire day at the DMV and who knows where else chasing government ghosts.  Anyone else with experience with this please let me know Im sure most other states are somewhat similar.

My 750 was purchased as scrap metal no title from a salvage yard long ago and far away. Any clues on where to start on getting a title for this thing? All i could find so far is get the vin# go to the police and make sure its not stolen, get a written bill of sale and then....well its as clear as mud to me.

I think this is my next step before I do anything or spend any real money on fixing it, plus it's something I can do without driving for 2 hours to where the bike is.

Oh almost forgot Thanks shiny for dragging me out of lurking again.
Why does it say paper jam when there is no paper jam? I swear to god one of these days, I just kick this piece of shit out the window.

Yes, you will need to take the bike to the Highway Patrol, and have it checked. They will give, you a form (I can not think of what it is called right now). Take that, and a bill of sale to the local court house, and apply< for a "Declaratory Judgment." Sometimes the clerk will give, you the forms, sometimes they will tell, you to get an attorney, but you can do it yourself. If, you need the forms let me know. Anyway the Judge will look at it, and award the bike to, you.

Tools as always you have the answer thanks so much.  Now just to be on the safe side, when I take it to the HIPO, all they need to know about or see is the frame as it has the vin correct?

Hey might have found out some good info on this, take it to Arkansas.  Found out from a guy at work that they don't bother with things as stupid as inspections or running a VIN. So I can take a trip down there say I want a title for the bike and bingo Ill have one. Then just transfer the title to MO and I'm good.

Im looking more into this because it sounds suspiciously easy but it is Arkansas so it wouldn't surprise me one bit if it were that simple.

Oops I just remembered I know a guy from Arkansas that built a bike. I believe he had to do an inspection, and paper work.
