Girders and gears

I was just thinking about my favorite toy as a kid, and was thinking how much it has changed over the years, and how today's version of it really sucks. It was the Erector Set. So I did a search for it, and found this cool site dedicated to the Erector set. I though some of you might enjoy it.

My Erector set was one of my favorites. I've stumbled on some of the old school sets in antique shops, but they want outrageous prices for them.

All the old stuff is cool. Nothing new is cool.

I heard a quote on time, but I can't remember who said it. They were talking about how the hotrodders today are setting up cars in the styles of the 50's and 60's. Whoever it was said something along the lines of: "There is nothing cool left to build. Out Grandfathers built all the really cool stuff." I kinda agree.

I guess erector sets were before my time? I had lego's. Never liked them. I was playing with skil saws and screw gun before I turned 9.  Scared my Mom to death, but I built some pretty decent steps for a 9 year old!
