Whole big can-o-worms here, you'll not get any argument from me.
I am a gun owner, some they know about, some they don't.... Don't kid yourself in thinking the Government hasn't kept tabs on LEGAL gun purchases for decades. That paperwork you filled out at the gun store back in the 80's is still on file somewhere. Even my O/U 12g that I bought solely to shoot trap/skeet they know about.
But my P90 I paid CASH for to a guy who was down on his luck, they aint got a clue. Surely the Government knows they can NEVER confinscate ALL the guns citizens have, even door to door searches, ain't gonna happen. I consider myself a law abiding citizen but the statement "If you outlaw guns, only Outlaws will have guns" carries a lot of weight. Someone contimplating murder doesn't give a rats ass about a citation or going to jail on a firearms charge.
And even if they take them ALL off the market to private purchase, and out of the hands of every individual... any decent Toolmaker with a Lathe and a Bridgeport can make a damn good one.

Since it was brought up, I have always been shocked and ashamed of what the white man has done to the Native Americans through out history, no matter how it was portaid or in what century, in either the north, central, or south Americas. I call myself an American but deep inside I know my forefathers STOLE this land I call mine.
Wounded Knee is just ONE example of what can happen if you surrender your gun to someone who has guns.

Many young men now,(a whole generation) have never had to serve in the military at all since May of 1972.
The all voluntary military.

They see no reason to have any guns.
Those kids have never been anywhere.

Steady there Trigger...
MANY of those Volunteered to go to Gernada, Kuwait, Iraq and die.
No disrespect to the previous generations, but do not think for a moment that Viet Nam was the last conflict.
Sure, I served 6 years and got out without seeing "Action" thank God. I went to Jodan and Egypt under peace, but during my last month was part of operation "Helping Hand" where we re-opened a pickled Air Force Base near the Gulf.... little did we know we were setting up for Desert Storm. I personally know men who saw action in those areas and have been changed forever. Mentally and physically. They know why we need guns in our homes.
A friend of mine watched helplessly as a fellow Airborne Paratrooper jumping into Gernada at night drowned in 3 feet of water because he was tangled in his parachute cords... I know another "Kid" who's respritory and nevous system is permanently damaged by the stuff Hussein had in the SCUD missles that our news channels later said never existed.

Well put Hoosier. On both posts!

And IMO the whole idea of a free country rests on the need for a voluntary military. Forcing people to die for ''your'' cause is not freedom. That's tyranny. Someone loving their country enough to make the decision to fight for it shows true freedom.

A-men Brother!

Sorry you feel that way Lucky-1, but you are entitled to your opinion. I get a little wound up in these conversations, usually try and avoid them.

I already know that.

I said  "many "  young men, NOT all young men.

The Vietnam war WAS the longest war in American
history up until the Iraq and Afganistan wars.

No one usually wants to die or be maimed.
We want a country where you have a choice, but sometimes your country needs you.
Each person has to decide it it is a just cause.

But this was about owning guns.
This week two car thiefs (thugs) beat up a 71 year old woman and ransacked her house
when she caught them breaking into a neighbors car.
Too bad she did not have a gun.

If we never have conversations then we can never exchange different points of views and opinions. And if we never do that then we can never acquire any information to actually form those opinions. There's nothing wrong with a little chat now and again.
