I dont know how many of you guys are in to cars but Mr Jenkins is gone.Alot of knowledge left the world today. If you hang out around some old timers pick their brains while you can. They won't be around forever.

I dont mean to sound cold hearted or rude about this.Sorry if it came off that way.

I read yesterday that Earl Scruggs (of Foggy Mountain Breakdown) passed away as well. What a great player, no ego per se, played with anybody and everybody.

I remember Grumpy from the 70s, when I memorized Hot Rod magazine from cover to cover. Tough as nails, and drove like it too.

I heard about Earl too, not Grumpy though. There is so much to learn about these old engines from guys like that and that knowledge is passing away. It is a shame.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!

Oh man, he's responsible for half the rules in racing! He'd do something crazy that wasn't explicitly in the rules, or against them, and the idea was so good, they had to make a rule against it! (not as much as Smokey, but hey, he had more than his share too) He will be missed.

Yes i have learned the most from the older men. They have been through it all and can save you a lot of time and hassle if you just are willing to listen.

But every generation we lose so much of our tech information and the new guys come along and say"I have a great idea", and "I wonder if it will work" and the older guys have already been through it.

I remember when I would tell an old man one of my ideas and was astonished when the "old man" said "Yeah they tried that... and spent thousands of dollars and it did not work."
Saved me a lot of grief.

Sometimes I would do it anyway, and found out the "old man " was right. S#@@#$tt
