HELP PLEASE 81 cb750k

sccustoms
having electrical and firing issues at all speeds.
first battery will not charge. have put new regulator and rectifier on. used (3of these) stators - new rotor - used (but good) starter relay still will not hold charge havent put a new battery on since the last 2 stators. but this battery is only about 6mths old.
second - the bike runs like crap sputtering  missfiring - checked firing all looks good plugs are new ngk plugs - i attribute the bad running to bad battery. am i right or wrong. when it gets into fifth top speed is 60-65 mph thats at full throttle and bike levels off exhaust sounds even. assoon as you hit a up hill puts pressure on it goes to sounding like crap again. is it time to rebuild it has 80 thousand on the motor. any suggestions im up for anything. oh 1 more thing the exhaust is removed and im running open pipes out the exhaust ports. could that be contributing to ruff running due to back pressure. i havent checked compression yet (dont have a guage yet) thanks.

well... my advice really is to check the compression and tune it up. I don't think your problems are related to the electrical system, considering all the parts you've thrown at that. I don't see how a bad battery could hold your top speed all the way back to 60-65. With 80k on the bike, your valve clearances are probably off, and your timing might need to be adjusted. Have you checked your timing? It's easier with a gun, but you don't need one to do it.

partsnmore.com has a compression tool for about $40, and it's well worth it. I'd really suggest checking that before throwing a lot more parts at the problem and hoping that one of them fixes it.
