Have I ever said that I hate keyhole carbs?

When I changed the engine in the Toolmatic two of the carb boots cracked while I was removing them. And since there are none to be found anywhere, I thought it would be a good time to install the 78 F model carbs I had. I thoroughly sonic cleaned them. Installed new gaskets, and O-rings. Went to great lengths to reassemble them making sure everything lined up correctly. Boiled the carb boots in winter green oil to make them nice, and pliable. Installed them with new clamps, so no vacuum leaks. All new ignition components, and ready to go. Now the bike is running, but not right. The no#4 cylinder is not working. The exhaust only heats up to 105* on that cylinder. I swapped plugs, swapped plug wires, and no difference. 140 lbs compression dry, so this brings me back to the carb. Now I have to remove the dam# things, and figure out what it's problem is.

The bike is protesting. It wants a clutch.

It's going to get more then a clutch here real soon!!!!!!
Say didn't someone put up a thread awhile back on how to adjust the needle jets without separating the carb bank?

I don't see how you could get to the needles with the carbs still on the rack. Unless you slid the shaft out.of the lifter forks. Which sucks. A lot.

Those carbs have to come off of the bike every time you want to work on them.

That is why I like the 1969 carbs. No bull.
No choke cable.
No press in idle jets.
No lifter arms.
No lifter arm shafts.
No boots on top.

I may have a line on some matic boots for you bud. I've been beating the bushes around here and I think I found some. Only catch is he may not separate them from the carbs.
