Headlight Switch Issue

jeremy
Hey all! So while returning my 1971 CB750 to its former glory I was installing original handle bars and consequently headlight/starter switch, when the little black slider inside the switch popped out and the contact that sits inside the black slider went bye bye, along with the ball bearing. I dont even know exactly what it looks like to identify it while I'm on my knees sifting through crap trying to find it! Grrrr.
Anyone happen to have a photo of the inside or a good description or any idea where I can find the part without having to buy the whole switch?

Thanks!

Ugh,I've been there! I recommend to NOT sweep the floor 'til you find it! Good luck on your search. You will probably find those parts in your shop before you find them for sale. Sneaky lil boogers.

You know I already swept the floor...in six different directions, with eight different piles. I nearly hosed it too just to completely screw myself. Those switches are like a land mine when you open them. Thanks for the well wishes though :-)

There are 3 different types of switches used just, for the starter that I know of on these old Honda's. If you put up some pictures of the control inside, and out I might be able to match it up with one in my junk box.

I can't argue with that! Thanks man!

Again its whatever sits between the black plastic piece that creates the circuit with the terminals. I assume some small metal contact strip/shrapnel from japanese hand mine!

Is that the top throttle control that has the headlight on/off switch?

I would replace that screw.
It has had the wrong size screw driver used on it too many times.
It takes a #2 phillips.
