Headlight off Axis, Crooked

sdjordan
Hey guys!  I have a strange problem with my headlight that hopefully someone can shed some light on.  By the way, this forum is great.  I got some excellent help diagnosing a charging system problem a few months ago- which has since been fixed!

Here's the problem: Headlight is off axis.
     - BIKE: 1980 CB750 F SUPERSPORT

The lens puts out (what it is suppose to be) a horizontally-oriented beam (shoots across the road).  That horizontal line is off by about 30-40 degrees, so what I have is more of a diagonal line- which is very annoying and makes riding at night difficult.

I've taken off the headlight assembly and looked for a way to adjust it and couldn't find anything.  Everything is meant to go in one way and one way only.  I can't adjust the lens, cant adjust the mounts.

Any suggestions or insight?!?!

Thanks everyone!

How about posting some pictures of your headlight, from the front, and maybe one at night, showing the pattern you're seeing?

There should be some mounting ears on the headlight itself, that fit into the bucket.  It's possible your bucket may be upside down.  You might also have something wrong with the mounting ears.  Maybe one is upside down?

More info would help.  Standing by.
