Help for the Love of GOD!!!!

seaofsin22
I'm almost done with a rebuild and ran into an issue.  1982 CB750K ....Battery is charged, have gas, new oil.. ready to fire up.  I turn the key and have power.  I hit the start button and I hear a click on the left hand side where the battery is and I lose all power. It doesn't even try to turn over.  I turn the key off and back on and now nothing comes on.  Last time it did this I thought the battery was dead so I charged it and the next day when I turned the key I had power again.
The only thing different in the build was new blinkers and had to get an LED Flasher for it and a new headlight which I'm still not sure if it works.  The headlight doesn't come on when the key is turned so I was wondering if it comes on when the bike starts.

Also can someone please take a couple pictures for me and show me how to set up the foot brake pedal where the springs and bolt hook up.  The front end of the linkage section.  Manual doesn't really have.

Thanks for any info!!

Be sure to check the ground wire connections at both ends also.

Should there be a ground towards the rear. The only wire I have seen from the wire harness is near the front , a green wire branches off right above ignition coil. The front and rear wire harness only has the ground connections. Thanks

How about the big black wire that goes from the (-) terminal on the battery to the frame (usually to one of the engine mount bolts)?

Thanks Tools, the black wire going from the battery to the frame was it.  The bracket that holds it in place was powder coated so I sanded the area that would have contact with it and that worked.

Now the engine tries to turn over but again nothing..
New petcock in gas tank, I will check when I get home to make sure gas is coming out....
I should also check the spark plugs... do you have any other recommendations for me to check out?

Thanks for your help
