Help identify this model 750 or 550

kar1zma
Hi guys

Once again I found another CB.
Owner says it's a 88 750 but to me it looks like a 550
There were a lot of bikes imported with wrong years
Hence the confusion.  There are no papers on this one so we cant identity this bike easily

Could u guys confirm please
Thank you

That is either a 71-73 CB500 or 74-75 CB550. Do you have the ser#?

I am positive it is not a CB750, either CB500 or CB550.

Definitely not a 750, but I can't say if it's a 500 or 550 either. Not really familiar with them.

Engine serial number can tell you in you can figure out how to decode it, but the engine size will be embossed in to the cyliders for certain.

For example, the cylinder case for a SOHC CB750 say "736 cm3". The cylinder for a XL500 say "497cm3". It's rare that a 750cc is actually 750cc, but it will get you close enough to tell the model name.

Google says a 500 is actually 498cc and the 550 is actually 544cc, so those should be the numbers you'll find on the ID plate between the cooling fins.
