Homemade Baffle?

Anyone ever make their own Baffle.

I have a 4 into 1 exhaust no baffle and cant see myself paying $70 of a piece of perforated metal.

I have seen some links online but would love to know how well/poor these homemade baffles sound Or am I just wasting my time and should buy one.

any help would be greatly appreciated.
