Is there an easy way to check the stator and regulator rectifier?

1979Honda
I have a 1979 CB750 with a 900 motor put in it. The charging system was fine for a good while. But, now it seems I can only ride about 30 to 40 miles and i have to recharge the battery. I replaced the battery and it still has the problem. I dont want to continue riding it and ruin the new battery. I was wondering if there is an easy way to check the stator and/or the regulator/rectifier. I have a multimeter and a repair manual for my honda. But, it says you need different testers then i have.

Thanks to anyone who replies

I have a 1981 CB750 custom. I found a fault finding flowchart for motorcycle charging systems. Electrosport industries.com.Technical Resources Library VERY EASY to use with basic multimeter tester. I found out the rotor was bad. Had a hell of a time getting old one off, then I had to replace reg-rec. Better order new reg-rec with rotor (if that's the problem) because bad rotor destroyed a new reg-rec that I had just installed before I found true problem with charging system
To get old rotor off I tightened rear brake as tight as I could. then wound an inch wide nylon rachet strap around rotor and tied it off to the frame so it would tighten as I tried to loosen rotor with rotor removal tool. Loosen and tap on rotor til it pops off. Believe me it's TIGHT!   Good Luck

Thank you Mountaincruiser for the information. I'm looking at that site right now. There is VERY useful information on there! I'll have to look at it more in the morning more when i'm not so tired. I wasn't sure what you meant at first by the rotor. But, after looking at schematics on bike bandit.com. I see the part you mean. I wouldn't have even thought about that part. I'll admit I only know the basics about motorcycles. But, i'm catching on slowly! Thanks to people like you and websites like this that have people nice enough to reply with useful information!

I'm glad i didn't just try and purchase a new reg-rec only to maybe have it destroyed seeing how money is very tight right now. So, again... Your message has helped!

Again Thank you MC. I just might be able to ride this summer!!
