Is this timing bad

Ecwil

I am trying to add a pic .
Tying to put life back into an 1981 CB750k.  She did not run and I have been going down the check list to get her road ready.  I was able to get her to start the other day.  She would run real rough with very little power and then die out.  I felt good because that was a big step.  Now she will not start and will back fire ( both through the carb and exhaust).  I thought I had a carb problem and was going to oder a rebuild kit and learn a little about how carbs work.  The honda dealer said he thought it sounded like a timing issue.  I checked the ignition timing and it was good.  I then tried to check the valve timing and came up with some questions.  The picture above is of what I saw under the side cover, after I took the valve cover off and lined up all the indicators on the timing chain.  Both the exhaust side and the intake side are right on with the number 1 cylinder at the top.  The pictures shows the 1.4 T just a littler off.  It is close but no matter what angel you look at it the T is not lined up with the indicator notch.  The picture, if it comes out, shows about 1/8 of an inch out.  Does this mean I have a big problem in the bottom end of the engine.  I have looked through the manual and I am not getting it.  Any advice would be great. thanks

Sure looks like you are a tooth off. I agree with the dealer, it does sound like a timing issue.

What is my next move?  Will I have to go into the bottom end or remove the cams? The manual shows how to reassemble but does not show how to move it up from a slipped tooth. Thanks

First you need to find out why it slipped. Are the tenshinors bad, or did someone have it apart, and put it back together wrong?
