Mikuni 34E1 carburetors

surfish95747
Hey guys, I am trying to upgrade the carburetors on my 1980 cb750k. Will Mikuni 34E1 (T711?) carburetors fit and be an upgrade, allowing my to use velocity stacks or air pods? The guys selling these thinks they are off a 2000 gsxr 600. Thanks!

Shiny currently has a thread going where he is getting the fine tuning done on a set, looks promising.

I know this is an old thread but both cycle x and speedmotoco have dual Mikuni kits available now for this bike. Has anyone used the speedmotoco set. It looks the most comolete, comes with pods pre-tuned. I'm thinking about getting them myself. I have the same bike. Here is a pic from their website.

Not sure I like the look completely I'd probably paint the intake.

Any idea on price? Are they tuned for stock engine or can you give them specs and have them tuned?

Re: Mikuni 34E1 carburetors

They are $619.95 here is the link.

Cheaper then CR carbs but more than the cycle x version with velocity stacks found here for
$499.00 http://www.cyclexchange.net/Honda%20Twin%20Carb%20Page.htm

Cycle X says not recommended for stock frames. I don't like how the stacks stick out the side like that either.

The speedmotoco website says they are fitted and tested on a test bike before shipping them out.  I think stock engine is a fair guess. Maybe shoot them an email to see if they can customize the tuning.

Looks like a great solution to me though.

Hambone is on the money.

The later model carbs in the original post are setup to work on a later model engine that holds thecarbs at a very steep angle. You won't be able to get the float to ever work right as our engine holds the carbs nearly perfectly vertical.

Maybe that's why the cycle x version gets mounted up and out. Maybe there's are better. I've emailed a bunch of questions to speedmotoco we'll see what they say about it.

Haha it actually says pre-jetted. I suppose I interpreted that wrong. The cycle x version says it comes with extra jets. I thought the speedmotoco version was better but maybe not. The intake just looks huge on the cycle x and I don't like how they say not for stock frames.

Hey guys,

This is the email response I just got from speedmotoco

"The kits we offer fit the stock frame. The others do not. We port match and test each kit as built ( synced and test run on an engine)
Hands down this is a better and more power full kit. Pics of carbs on bike>>> http://speedmotocotech.blogspot.com/2014/10/cb750-dohc-vm34-2-1-carburetor-kit.html"

Unless they have installed them on your engine to sync them, there is no way they are going to synced. There are too many variables involved with an engine that can affect the sync of the carbs, that there is very little possibility that they could sync them and they be synced to your engine. I myself, for this statement would not trust anything they say. On the other hand, I have dealt with Cycle-X for several years, and spoken with Ken himself on a few occasions. Great guy and really knows his stuff. BTW the Cycle-X kit will fit the stock frame, but how it is done is highly classified information.

Re: Mikuni 34E1 carburetors

I've emailed cycle x now too. Let's see what they have to say. If they fit with too much effort I'm happy to save 120.00 bucks. 500.00 seems like a good deal if they work as well as the reviews on their website say they do. I'm not a fans of how the stacks stick out on the bike in the photo but I'm sure it will grow on me.

What's better foam or screens for stacks. What if you get caught in the rain? Looks like water could get in. That was the other reason I liked the speedmotoco version with pods.
