My 1976 k6 project

This post was updated on .
Hi all!
I decided to share some pics here...Started a rebuild of a '76 k6....My first !
I want it cafe racer styled...but some mods will not be possible b/c of a cop (that lives in my city)who is pretty strict on respecting the province legal requirements...he never stop harrassing bikers with mesurements of all kinds....i live in eastern quebec, canada

I have No previous experience on mechanics at all.....
Thanks to many of you guys for multiple advices!

actually my frame is totally re-painted, engine's rebuild (top end: valves, rings, cylinders), rear suspension back in shape.
I'm expecting some new parts for the front fork. Already received fork tubes and oil seals from cycle x.....
Only the damper piston rings are still missing....
The next round will be in a couple of weeks.
after the fork, engine back in place....and wiring it back..

Steering neck has been rebuiled too(tapered bearings from all balls)....

Man it's fun to see it getting whole again!
P.S i also join a picture of my next project.....a k2....This one will be fully restored, no mods!(brown bike down the page)

what i started with..engine after rebuildbefore

Hi guys1 it' been a while since the last time i came around here!

Here's an update of the project....not going fast but i dont have much time to work on it and right now the temperature isn't very encouraging to get in the garage and work on the bike.
It's been around -20 for the last three weeks.....and frankly it's not fun to be in the garage now  !

so....

forks are done...front brake caliper ready and installed....just has to be reconnected with brand new hoses.
Master has to be rebuild with new piston kit.
Engine's ready to be returned in its location..
And a new electric harness is awaiting to be installed.....

I'm very anxious to have the job done!!!

Here.s a couple of pics of DA BIKE!!!!

Looking good so far! The silver of the bare tank gives a nice contrast against the black frame and rims. Maybe a light color like that would look good on there.

Thanks for the answer shiny!

I was thinking of something like that.........

But i'm not sure. I have to keep my rear(and front) fender because  of the cops in the city where i live....they are pretty "zealous?" on respecting the "code".......
And they are preety harrassing also.....so mmy bike will have to be as stock has possible...
I dont know what its gonna look like with fenders.....cafe racer seat???
May be something like this......

I'm trying to figure what i'm gonna do with the rear and the seat.....and the paint scheme.....

My other tendency is to keep the tank bare......with Camaro-style black stripes on it (two on top maybe).
But what will i do with side covers?????????

I really dont know and i'm open to suggestions......

HELP ME GUYS!!! Mostly with colors.b/c i'm kind of color blind.....

If you decide to run a bare tank there is a product called RPM. Rust Preventive Magic. Goes on like a wax and keeps the rust away with an oily film or residue. No added gloss either.

From experience I can say you definitely want a front fender regardless of local laws. It's miserable without one.

Clear coats tend to not stick as well as you'd like them to when putting them on bare metal. It can be done and it will last for a while, but you're basically painting without priming first so it eventually peels and flakes.
