My 82 CB 750 K build and questions

acquinn91
Hey guys, i'm new to the forum and joined because I have a quick question. I guess I will leave my build here as well. I bought this bike partially restored for $625, and have been picking away for the past two weeks. I just got the motor in, but have two spacers that I cannot find a home for.

Please let me know if anyone has any insight to where these go. The rest of the engine installation went smooth.

Thanks

I think those go in the drive chain adjusters on the rear axle.

Rich is correct! They go in the end of the swingarm, and the chain adjuster bolts butt against them. They are removable, so you can remove/replace the rear wheel without removing the axle.

Re: My 82 CB 750 K build and questions

acquinn91
Ok guys new question. Let me premise all this with the fact that I bought this bike in boxes, and am having some trouble figuring out where everything goes. The Left Upper Rear engine spacer seems to be incorrect. I am not sure if I am missing the correct spacer or if there is another part that finishes the spacing.

Without the spacer

Spacer Mocked up

R. Side spacer seems to fit

Any ideas guys? This is the only motor mount that seems to have missing hardware

That is not the right spacer for the left side, however you can just get some tubing, and cut a spacer. Also the right does not look quite right, but I do not have a DOHC CB 750 to look at for comparison right now.

I guess i'm wondering if there is anything else that mounts to that through bolt on the left side or will making my own spacer be a good idea?

This might help. http://www.powersedge.com/pages/OemParts?aribrand=HOM#/Honda/CB750K_A_%2882%29_MOTORCYCLE%2c_JPN%2c_VIN%23_JH2RC010-CM300003_TO_JH2RC010-CM303183/FRAME/CB750K-82-JPN-A/2Y14425ZF14425Z28C However a homemade spacer will work just fine. On the other one, I think the battery ground cable mounts between the spacer, and the mount plate.

There is a steel chain guard that bolt must pass through which fills the gap. It wraps around the output shaft cover area to protect the cases in the event of a chain failure.

^^^Bingo!

Also, one of those spacers should be a two-piece, rubber-isolator, anti-vibe sort of doohickey. They make a difference. Mine had been replaced with a solid slug of aluminum and the bike is a little buzzy now at times. Keep it if you can,but if you go with a homemade solid spacer it is not horrible, just noticeable.

Went to put the sprocket cover on and found that piece. DOH!

I listed my newest question in the tech area. My clutch is engaging the engine when pulled in, and disengaging when out. Any insight on that?

You have the actuator reversed?

I'm kind of hoping that it is something stupid like this but I'm thinking it can't be. The actuator only rotates about 120 degrees as far as I can see, and I can't think of a way it would have spun in the time the previous owner had the engine out, and when I put it back in.

This one has me stumped.

The seatpan is made of Starboard, which is a marine plastic that I used to use for all sorts of things in the marine business. It holds threads, is very strong, and can be bent with a heat gun.
