Here's some pictures of my 1981 CB750 that I recently acquired.  When I first saw this thing it looked like the bike Prince drove in the movie Purple Rain, but only in a lot worse shape.  It had an after market fairing with a nice Kraco cassette deck in it.  It also had leather side bags and leather tassels on the handles, but the coup de grace was the nice skulls on the ends of the handles.  I'm torn between rebuilding it to as close to original condition as I can or making it into a bobber.  The gas tank is in pretty good condition as well as the side panels.  Can anyone give me any information as to how I could get the panels and tank looking like they did originally?  This would include the stickers and any emblems that I would need.

Sounds like a fun project.  As far as restoring your tank and side covers to stock, the stickers might be the tough part.  With these bikes hitting 30 years of age, I doubt you'd find the decals anywhere.  Closest thing might be some stock units on EBay or the used bike dealer of your choice. Some of the older CB750s have metal or plastic HONDA emblems on the tank, instead of decals.  Also, the 1979 anniversary models have a little emblem on the side, but the rest of that year have the decals also.

I guess if you were going to strip the existing paint off, you could use an airbrush to give it the decal look.  That might be something for a paint shop to do, but it would be a nice touch.

Planning on keeping the fairing?  I'm debating putting one on my bike.  My sons would think I'm a sissy, but my long torso and 65mph does beat me up a bit.
