NEWBIE says Hi!

curmudgeon
I'd like to say Hi to all of the members of this group.  I stumbled across this site the other night and was intrigued by some of the threads that I read.  One in particular was someone called "Knuckleknocker" who was rewiring a 750.  He posted in November.  I offered some help if he was still "over his head" as he stated in November.
By way of introduction, I call myself Curmudgeon or Cur.  Neither one is really nice, one is a cranky old geezer and the other is a mongrel dog.  My wife would say that I can be both at times.  I've been around motorcycles since 1972 when I bought my first bike, a new CB450.  High-sided it at 7K miles and bought my first 750, a '73 K.  Loved that bike.  Sold it when the first kid came along.  A couple years later got a yellow 750F1.  Okay, but not as good as the K.  Got broad-sided in an intersection in El Paso and that was the end of the F.  The b**%$#d in a F250 Ford went through a red light and hit just behind my left leg at an estimated 45 to 50.  Bent the F fifteen degrees out of straight.  Decided to stop riding and raise the kids.  In 95 I found a '79 750L leaning against a barn with a 2" sapling growing up through the swing arm that called out to me.  Spent waaaayyy to much  getting it on the road (the wife still has fits about it) and promptly swapped it for a 1100 Suzuki.  Sold it and bought a 1200 Bandit.  Traded it for a new Concours.  Traded the Kawi for an '07 Bonneville.  That is my ride today.   But...  Down in the cellar is a '77 F that has been torn down to a bare frame.  I'm working on turning it into a Cafe Racer with a hot-rodded 836.  I'm taking my time with this build and hope to have it on the road before I start collecting social security (in a couple of years).  I'm ready to ride but winter has a strangle hold on us here in Vermont.  If you live someplace warm and are riding or getting ready to ride, send some positive warm thoughts in this direction.  There is nearly 36" of snow on the flat that has to melt before I can even think about uncovering the Bonny.  Peace!
