I checked Fiona's Tires & they are still in nice shape (no cracks plenty of tread it's about due for replacement they are stamped 2006. I will probably replace them after the summer.
I currently have IRC tires on her & she rides ok but I have found out 1st hand (because of my heavy tourer) that certain bikes like certain tires. My Yamaha Venture is now riding on Dunlop E3's & I tell you the bike rides like a Cadillac!
So what brand tire should I be looking at for my 81 750K?
Criteria:
1. I ride mostly around town & on highway (short trips)
2. I usually don't ride in rain (unless I get caught in it)
3. Tire price is not a factor. (I have found that dropping 4 bucks on the right tires sometimes makes all the difference)
So what do you suggest?

I would give my usual Shinko 712 suggestion, but it sounds like your need more of a mileage tire than a grippy one.
Conti is making radials in our sizes now. 18's & 19's. I'm sure they are pricey, but they might be worth looking into.

I run round black ones on my bikes. I have found that the ones with the flat area on the bottom do not roll, or corner very well. TOOLS

Sgt,
I appreciate the link but, I would rather take reviews from you guys on this forum. I have had nothing but A1 information from here (my CB750 brothers) when it comes to Fiona since the day I joined!

Well, I've posted my comments on the tire review site, as well as here, before. Thought I'd broaden the responses for you. The only tires I will ride on, are Pirelli MT66 Route tires. Ran them on a 1983 KZ440LTD first, loved them so much I put them on my '79 K model; then I put them on our '93 Voyager touring machine... Touring on our Honda, we rode the MT66's in rain, 60 MPH, leaning into curves, to make time -- we were suffering minor hypothermia, and we needed to get to a stopping point ASAP. Those tires were glued to the road, and the bike had the OEM, 30-years-young, sagging suspension, and it was loaded beyond the specified weight limits. They lasted over 10,000 miles, on the K (had plenty of tread left when I sold it), and around 7,600 on the Voyager, thus far.
I know folks on the Voyager forums swear by Dunlop Elite III's, but I won't touch anything but the MT66's. Best tire I've ever ridden on: superb traction in all conditions; largely ignore cracks, tar snakes, etc., when new, but not bad as they age, either; grated bridges have no effect, when the tires are new, but they do become noticeable with several thousand miles worth of wear -- not a bad thing, most tires handle like crap new, on grated bridges, so anything is an improvement. Cheers!

give me a couple of months and I'll tell you if the Michelin Pilot Activ's I've got on are any good.
decent reviews but there's nothing like first hand knowledge.

Funny tire story. My Buddie went to have his 76 CB 750 A inspected the other day, and they told hime he needed a new front tire because of some cracks in the tread. So he had them install a new front tire. On the way home the bike started to sputter, and died. The starter would not work, and gas was pouring out of the carbs. I had to go, and haul the bike back to my shop in the Toolhauler. Got the bike up on the lift, and started looking it over, and quickly found the problem. The shop had installed a Harley Davidson tire on it. TOOLS

Sgt the MT66 you're able to get a matched set? The reason I ask is I run E3's on my Yamaha Venture. Great tires but they don't come in CB750 size ( I think the rear size is unavailable) I have found this problem with lots of brands

Free, aren't those radials? I was under the impression the older bike can't use radials becaise of the suspension geometry?

Yes, I had matching tires. I don't remember if the rear was a little wider than spec'ed, or not, but it fit, and it worked for 10,000+ miles. Cheers!

My bike is running radials iirc without issue.
It too has a H-D front tire.
Turbos, Hondas, 4-bangers, what could go wrong?
