New Member but not new to Honda's :)

Jebbysan

Hello!

I have been into to Honda's my whole life....started riding again in 06' and bought a
80' CB750F.
Since then the hobby took off and now I own a 79' CBX that I built myself and have restored
three other bikes including the 80' CBX resto mod I have in the shop now.
Good to see others from the community getting together....
I am members of:
CB750F.com
CB750C.com
and CBXworld.com

Hope to talk to you all soon and feel free to ask any questions as I have been well educated in how
these machines work.

Peace,
Jebby

Jebby, good to see you on this friendly little forum.

Btw, the valve stem seals I ordered from you went in with a reassuring snug fit.  Looking forward to putting my engine back into my frame getting on the road.

Happy to help!
I do a lot of Q and A at the other sites and do engine and Carb work in my spare time....
I do ultrasonic cleaning for all types of carbs and sell Viton valve seals for DOHC and SOHC
motors. They are the finest available and I have over 6500 pieces out there across the globe.
I will eventually post the seals on here...but don't want to be a tornado...first day and all.

any Q you may have...hit me!

Thanks!

Welcome to forum! Glad you made it over, just don't tell that Canook Mod. Ha-Ha!
I have been hanging here more and more you may have noticed I'm over there less and less. Truely a nice bunch here, very low key and not near the  . So many want to run Pods...You need to post a thread on setting up the Mikuni's on your Super Sport.
Gene lets me link to the techy docs over here so you will see some familiar info. But it's all the good stuff. Please feel free to pitch in with your wealth of knowledge.

Yeah...kinda stuffy....but Gene and I are friends...we get techy and very nerdy about stuff....and just like anything....you get used to it after a while.

Thought I would jump over here because some may not know about the other sites or just
don't like them....that is personal preference....I am about the HONDA'S! :)

Thanks for the kind words and you guys need anything...let me know!

Re: New Member but not new to Honda's :)

seestheday
I just find the sites different.

I'm also feeling like this site is starting to get a lot more people that have DOHC's, even though all of the admins are SOHC riders.  Very low key here, and everyone just wants to help.  I'm very happy that the influx of DOHC riders seems to be quite welcomed by the guys running this place.

This place is much more newb friendly.  I was welcomed with open arms and I knew nothing (still don't know that much but I'm learning).

The others seem to be much more technically advanced, but also much less welcoming to new guys who just want to figure out why their bike stopped running.  Great example of this how I'm considered to be a guy who know a decent amount about the DOHC carbs.  I know what I do because I carefully read the MacGregor manual and several others and have rebuilt my carbs twice.  Well, the guy that wrote the damn manual posts on the other sites...

The F site seems to not want any discussion that isn't related to F bikes, so I guess because I have a K I'm not welcome there... I try to keep my questions to a minimum there because of that.

A lot of the problems with the other forums also seem to be caused by technology.

On the other forums you have to post pictures using an image server like photobucket.  On this forum you just click "insert image" and it automatically resizes the images.  So on this forum newbs can't easily blow out the formatting of a page.

For some bizarre reason you have to be logged in to see a lot of the content on the other sites.  This is disastrous for SEO (google etc.), and I think it's why this nabble site is starting to rank well in search and why we're getting so many more DOHC people.

The other forums appear to be hosted, and this one uses a free service (nabble).  There are pros and cons to each.

For example, search on the other forums is terrible and you have to "learn" how to use it.  Search on this forum is great (because the company is constantly optimizing their algorithms).  You just type and find stuff.  You also get the added benefit of using google to search for things (not as easy with the other forums because of the blocking issue).

A big con about the free service though is that we're effectively building sandcastles on the beach here.  If at any time nabble goes away then this forum and all of the content we've generated on it is potentially gone forever.

Perhaps I can speak for the admins and owner of this site:

Re-Run started this site to discuss the CB750s.  Old ones, new ones, SOHC, DOHC, manual, automatic... Any discussion is welcome, as long as it doesn't stray too far from the main topic. Any and all knowledge transfer is welcomed and appreciated.  Accurate information is even more prized.

The goal (if there is one) is to get these bikes running, resurrecting them from junkyards or barns or backyards or basements.  If that can be done with the help of people on our forum, so much the better.  If that info resides elsewhere, then by all means go there and get it.  Then they need to be RIDDEN, since that is what Mr. Soichiro Honda had in mind: transportation.

I've been here for almost 3 years.  I've been able to share what I've learned over those 3 years, and the over 35 years of other automotive endeavors before that. I've also learned a GREAT deal from others on this forum.  I'm by no means the expert on these machines.  I'm just one of the admins who keeps the peace, and keeps the focus.  Luckily, with our users, it's a very easy job, and everybody gets along OK. I've learned how to translate Piute-speak into common English, and which personalities are a little more crotchety than others.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled carburetor discussion.
