New at Rebuilding Carbs. Need Assistance

bharvey60
Hi all.  I just acquired a 73 CB750 from a friend.  The bike has sat for years with fuel in it and the carbs are really dirty.  The throttle was frozen and worked fine once I disconnected both cables from the linkage, so I'm assuming something is frozen inside of one of the carbs. I'm new to working on carbs.  My questions...

Does anyone know where to find a good guide to disassembling and rebuilding the carbs, as well as removing the throttle linkage from the carbs?  I only want to disconnect the minimal amount possible, but the carbs are a mess and will need rebuilding.  I already have the rebuild kits.  I've been able to access the bottom of the carbs by removing the float bowl, but don't know how to remove the linkage so I can access the top of the carbs.

Any idea what could cause the linkage to be locked?  Once off the bike I attempted to operate the linkage manually, but it is still frozen.

I appreciate any help you can provide.  Thanks.

We have manuals right on this site for free download. It will give you everything you need to know.
But if your cables move freely on their own, then your carb slides are frozen.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!
