Ok cool thanks. The U bolts were what I needed to know. That makes sense now. How to you like your highway pegs? Is it worth having the crash bar so you can have the highway pegs? I will be doing a decent amount of highway driving.

my hwy.pegs will just be a heelrest pad but pointing inward from inside the bar,It's 1x2 rubber pad just waiting on the right price,I'd also use brass stud / bolt there soft and if bike goes down they break off and don't dig into road and possibly flip.Have used crash-bars alot and was taught to either give it gas and shoot for the hole or lay it down front amd rear bars make it so you can still ride home ,hard at times .just a Lil extra pre caution is all.Small pair of vise grips come in handy incase your brake or clutch lever breaks.

Mine is different, the bar across the top is cut and has drop plates .

I love my high way pegs. I use them all the time. The only time I use the stock pegs is if I need to use the rear break in an emergency stop. I also am very glad I have the crash bar. As much as I hate to admit it I have dropped the Toolmatic twice. Once putting it into the living room, and then once when I hit some gravel while making a sharp turn in a parking lot.

Well I put it on and it looks ok... I'm not sure if I like how it looks but then again it is more for practical reasons/protection.

My other issue with the highway pegs is I have a straight bar on it and I can't seem to find a comfortable position for highway pegs. Maybe an inward facing pad would feel better.

Here is a pic I'll get some in the daylight tomorrow

On another note I plan on taking my bike on some longer trips. What are the best things you'd recommend to make it more comfortable? Is there a popular sprocket to help reduce highway rpms?
