Newbie to the forums

dc
Just got a 1978 CB750K. Rode it home but it ran a little rough. No idea about previous maintenance. Maybe have to go through the carbs at least. Any suggestions appreciated. One thing I do plan to do is change the exhaust. It has 4 pipes and am thinking about 4 into 2 or 4 into 1. Again any suggestions or opinions appreciated.

If the 4-4 pipes are stock and in good shape they might be worth more than you paid for the whole bike.

Thanks for replying to my post. They are not stock, they're shorter and turn out, no muffler. They are loose on both ends. If I can get them tight and no leaks at the cylinder I might keep them on. Look ok and sound good. But will a Honda shop have seals that fit aftermarket pipes? Or will I have trouble finding them?

I only know the dohc exhaust fit well, someone else will have to chime in for how to get the social pipes to fit tight. I'm pretty sure you can do it easily though.

All the Hondas' use the same copper O-ring to seal the exhaust. Most Honda shops stock these. They are around $3.00 a piece.

My pipes were loose until I turned around the half-moons the correct way.  I'm guessing the issue was the reason why the PO had stuffed 3 copper crush washers in there.

Like I said though, my pipes are DOHC, and I recall that the SOHC ones mount a little differently.

Thanks. I won't be making a cafe out of it. I like the way they look but I'll keep this one like it is.
