Oil tank breather

Kokal
Hello, I am new to motorcycles in general. I just picked up an 82 CB750 Nighthawk. Someone at some point put a nice performance exhaust on it and jetted the carbs on it but it wasn’t running right with an air filter so I got the bike with the factory air box and no filter. The bike seemed to run ok but not too great so I added these filters. Bike seems to be loving the filter however I found these two lines one on the oil tank right by the dipstick and one on the other side. They meet at a tee that used to connect to the factory air box. I was wondering if I am able to shorten these two lines up now that there is no factory air box for the tee. I also think it will look a little better in the open space if those lines are not running up.

Yes, you can change them. I have put little pod vent filters on them before on custom bikes.

Awesome thank you. I just want to cut them down so they aren’t right next to the filters.

You really want a filter on those lines, the crankcase breaths in and out and will suck dirt and water in.

I was going to cut them down and keep them going into the tee. I was going to get a little filter for the end of the tee. Figure it will keep things cheaper. This is my first bike so Dressing it up with dual breather filters or fancy stuff isn’t what I am going for. My next issue is trouble shooting my gas gauge it reads half a tank all the time.
