Old school Honda tech willing to throw in 2 cents

gary c.
I am in and out of a lot of forums doing research on whatever I am building at that time. I restore old cars and bikes for a living, but I was a motorcycle mechanic in dealerships around Okla. and Kansas for over thirty years. I stumbled upon this site and think I might make a home here. So if anyone is stumped and has a question I will be more than happy to throw in 2 cents. I won't always know the answer but most the time I will . If I don't we'll figure it out.  Thanks Gary C.

Cycle one ? They here in OKC? I don't get around to any shops too often anymore. I buy all my parts off the web. Besides, only a couple people I knew or worked with are still in the business. The others are retired or dead.

Looks like a pretty good site you got going. I am in and out of forums usually getting info. on a current project. Like right now I'm restoring a 1958 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham. They say it is the hardest car to restore and they weren't kidding. I really have never settled into any one forum but after I stumbled upon yours and read all the stuff them guys were saying about sealing gas tanks and welding on them I had to join just to throw in my 2 cents. I might stick around awile and see if I might be of some help.

Cycle-One http://www.cycleonemanufacturing.com/ is in Locust Grove. Red, and Kate are really great people. I have been down there to pick up parts, and they treated me, and Toolbabe like family.
No I did not know anybody from Tucker Rocky. I have only been In Kansas City for 4 years, and I think they moved before that.

Its hard to find a mechanic these days that can fix anything that's broken. Seems like there are alot of parts changers and no troubleshooters.

Most of the people that come here have just bought a CB 750, and are trying to get it running. However the great thing about this forum is that we do not have the know-it-alls. And everyone is nice.

I probably have forgotten more than I know. I still keep on top of my trade. One thing about me is that I never talk down to anyone,  always show respect and if I am in disagreement,   I listen to the other person then lay out my case with facts. I never get angry in a disagreement, I always accept that we are all human and in the end hope I help someone get back on there bike and save them a little heart ache and alot of money.

BTW, if I don't know something on a Honda I will say I don't then I will say lets find out in the book. I don't like the know it all guys either but I do respect someone with great knowledge of their trade and even more so when they explain something like they're teaching me and not commanding me. I try to do the same when I help someone.

Gary C, your input is welcome.  You might have to dig through the cobwebs to remember something from 30+ years ago (welcome to my world), but if you have some insight, it is appreciated.

Please don't think that you have to camp out on this forum day and night.  I believe it's important to have a life outside of the Interwebs...like riding a motorcycle or wrenching on a car or stuff. :-)

Thanks for the welcome. I'll be glad to assist when I can. I am too busy to camp out. I have four bikes and several cars in line for restoration. The gentleman I work for has 25 cars and 10 motorcycles I keep maintained on top of what I have to build. Of the 4 bikes in line, three are early '80 s factory turbo bikes, a Honda cx 500turbo, a Yamaha 650 seca turbo, and a Kawasaki gpz 750 turbo. If you ever hear of a Suzuki factory turbo for sale let me know.  They only built 1200 world wide and are hard to find. Thanks again.  Gary C.
