Ordering a new exhaust, wondering what other pieces I made need?

ETFerguson
Hi guys and first off Merry Christmas!

I decided I'm going to order a new MAc 4 into 1 exhaust for my 82' K but I'm wondering what other new pieces I'll need to install it? From what I've read it looks like a simple enough job although I've seen that it is a good idea to install new crush gaskets in each header. Is this all I need and the rest is just a bolt-on job? I've also heard talks of other pieces but I think those are for other models with different exhaust systems.

So basically what I'm hearing is:

1. Uninstall old exhaust
2. Take out old gaskets and put new ones in
3. Bolt the new headers back in
4. Possible re-tune of carbs

Thanks!

Yep, you got it buddy. Be careful with the fasteners at the engine. Don't be afraid to use a fair amount of heat on a stubborn fastener if needed

Good luck and PICS when you get them on!

Great thanks! Happy to hear it is fairly simple as I've been told. I was looking forward to this being a simpler project than some others I have planned. Now by heat do you mean just taking a heat gun to the four fasteners to loosen them up a bit? Makes sense as they're original pipes so it's probably going to be a &!?#% to get them off smoothly.

Anyone know of a good tutorial video on a new exhaust like this?

You should have 8 fasteners total. Two per cylinder. While you are waiting on your part to arrive go ahead and start spraying them with penetrating oil. Couldn't hurt!

And by heat I actually meant a torch. But only if you find that you need it. I'd rather burn a little paint on my cylinder head, than have to deal with a broken/stripped bolt. You'll probably be just fine. At one time I was pretty scared to heat aluminum in situations like that, but it's not going to melt. I was just paranoid.
