Pain in my a$$

DWightSperber
I've had charging problems since I got the bike. It wouldn't start for me one day so I replaced the battery. After a thirty minute ride got home and wouldn't start back up so i replaced the stator and charged the battery back up. I let it idle and it eventually died on its own, so I replaced the stator. I took the bike on a ride with stopped after a half hour for gas and it started back up just fine. Rode for another half hour and stopped for lunch and it started back up just fine. Thirty minutes into the ride it started missing as I was coming into town. When I got to a stop sign and tried to take off it died and wouldn't start back up just like it had originally done. Can comeone please help? Could I have gotten a bad stator and/or rotor? Would the regulator/rectifier cause this?

90+% of the time it's the rotor...

is it true that when the rotor goes bad, plan on replacing the regulator? Is there anyway to check the rotor off of the bike? what symptoms would I have if regulator was bad?

Not necessarily, but sometimes a failed rotor will 'take out' other parts.  Bad VR will allow not enough, too much, or none at all voltage to the circuits behind it.  Aka, new rotor yields 14.x voltage at your headlight, VR is working.
