Painting break parts.

Does any one know of a paint that will stand up to break fluid? I have even tried "Caliper, and Break paint" which has ceramic in it. It was the worst paint I ever used. Dried way too fast. Could not keep it wet enough to get an even shine. Then when break fluid hit it it just fell off in a sheet.

Use epoxy and make sure it's fully cured before adding fluid, OR use powder coat, OR Eastwood company has some brake fluid resistant grey paint that works, though the color varies a bit from batch to batch, and it's more silvery-grey. POR15 also is fairly resistant to fluid. Unfortunately, NONE of them are completely resistant to DOT3 and DOT4 brake fluid. If the fluid stays on long enough, the painted coating WILL lift off.

The only thing I can recommend is any of the above, combined with fresh seals and not letting any leak sit on it more than a few hours before cleaning it off. In 16 years of hot rod shows and custom car builds, that's the best I could hear people talk about. :(

Here's a link to the Eastwood stuff…

As you can see, most of the paints say fluid "resistant" and not fluid "proof".

Powder coat is the bomb. Cannot be beat. If you cant get it done local at a decent price send it to me and I can coat it for you. Another surface that brake fluid doesn't affect...polished aluminumoh yeah!

I've never found any paint that will hold up to brake fluid. Ya got that many leaks, big dog?

I would like to add just one thing too….I know I will get slammed for it but here goes….

They're "brake" parts. "Brake" parts stop the bike, "break" parts are either parts you don't want anymore so you make them non-functional, or they're parts that already "breaked" and you gotta replace them, or they're shiny new parts you look at after removing them from the box they shipped in…during your "break".

Lol, auto parts humor. :)

OK here goes. I am not a "parts re-placer" I am a mechanic! I repair things. I rebuild master cylinders, and calipers! And after I do that I like, for them to look nice, so I paint them!!! Now I do replace break pads, but I doubt I would go to the trouble of painting them. No wonder mechanics tell parts counter clerk jokes! There feel flamed?
