Petcock and fuel filter size?

I meant to measure my petcock outlet last night and forgot. Im running by the parts store after work to pick up an inline clear filter and some new line. Is it 1/4" or 5/16"? or does it really even matter between the two?

Should be 1/4 inch.

Mine was 1/4" but that line fit so loose without clamps, I put 3/16" on it. I'll use 1/4" line with the little wire clamps I recently bought.
