Please help! Bike wont start! 1974 cb750

tubamonkey09
I just bought a chopped '74 cb750 and I pulled back on the throttle while in neutral and the motor cut off. I tried electric starting it and all I can hear is the starter moving. I tried kick starting it, but I can't, it seems jammed up. I checked my oil tank on the oil cooling system (this was taken off an old harley and installed) and there wasn't much oil in the tank, so I bought a bottle and poured it in...still nothing, maybe it needs another bottle because the tank isn't full. Anyway I definitely need some help with this one, this is my first bike and I don't know much about working on them.

Thanks,

Andrew

Welcome to the forum. How about some pictures of the bike? We love old Choppers here
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if the engine will not turn/crank with the kick-starter. It's bad You could try putting it in 5th gear, and pushing it to see if the engine turns. If that engine is stuck you will have to rebuild it.

I crying with you there buddy, but believe me, you would rather have a stuck piston, or even a main bearing then any other internal problem. Have you tried rocking it back, and forth in 5th gear? However on the bright side. Cycle-x has an 836cc kit, for around $270.00

Yeah tuba, A stuck piston or bearing is much better than, say, a broken gears.
One trick that you can try, for verification, is to put a couple tablespoons of marvel mystery oil or some penetrating oil in the cylinders and let it sit a few days then put it in 5th and try to rock it back and forth.

Regardless, you will need to pull things apart.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!
