Plz Help with #'s

I'm looking at a Honda 750 Four The numbers on the triple tree have been filled in when it was repainted. I do have the engine VIN & was wondering if any one can help me interpret it: CB 750E 1047872. It has an old tag on it but it is from New Jersey & it was from 2001, so no help there. Thanks for any info someone can give me.

Thank you very much, I'm trying to verify that it is not a stolen bike before purchasing it. The people who have are serious about selling it & and a Suzuki 450 as they are moving & don't want to have to deal with moving them. Thanks for the info.
