Pricing assistance

"1976 Honda CB750 super sport for sale (clean title). The bike has a newer seat cover, newer tires and runs like a champ!"

Found this on craigslist, its about 4 hours away from me so I'd be looking at 150ish in gas.

Owner listed it for 2,000 but he said he would be willing to come down on price. What is a fair price to offer without being able to see it first hand? I've seen people getting these bikes for next to nothing, and others paying thousands. Kinda confused.

In Kansas City with a clean title that bike would be $1,300 to $1,800. However bikes are still pretty reasonable here, compared to other places. The thing about that bike is that it does not have the stock exhaust on it. That alone would make it $2,500+

True. But the stock pipes on these bikes was hideous, so IMO, these are better.

What's up with the bottom edge of the gas tank? Is that just some sort of shadow,or is it caved in there?

If the tires, chain, sprockets, brakes (basically, all the wear items) are in good shape, I'd go $1,500 or maybe more if it looked really clean in person. Just by looking at the pics I'd put my top dollar at $1,500, but I may be a bit biased as i really like these styling of these models. I had one once...but I cut it up.
