Question about seat covers

seestheday
Anyone have experience recovering a seat?

I have a good size tear in my seat cover and have recently purchased a new seat cover from http://www.motorcycleseatcovers.com/.  It came in the mail today.

The instructions that came with it say that I should either do it on a very warm day, or do it with a heat lamp overhead.

I don't own a heat lamp, and there won't be a very warm day up here in Canada anytime soon.  Do I need to wait, or is there another way to get it warm enough to work with properly?

Is this something that I should really go to an upholstery shop to have done?

It's not hard to install. I use a heat gun. They are really cheap, and, you will be surprised how handy it can be. I use mine a lot.

the heat will make the material expand and stretch easier, so it will contract tight onto the pan after you apply it, thats all. I bet a hairdryer would work fine.

I use a hair dryer to heat up cover, heat gun gets to hot and it held in one area will damage vynil. I cover the  foam with plastic bag so cover wil stretch, and pull tighter when pulling over hold down spikes.

So you just leave the plastic bags there under the seat?
