Questions about the chain? 630 to 530 on CB750KZ DOHC

Ferdinand
Hi all,

I am about to change the chain set and decide to go for 530. The stock sprockets are 15/38 with 630 90links. May I have any suggestion about the sprocket combination? I have searched on Amazon and found some chain set showing CB750KZ RC01 with 530 108links 18/46. I reckon it's a conversion set not a stock chain set, do you think it's a good start to try?

Besides, seems people here using a term "conversion" about 630 to 530. Should I have any spacers to prevent chain hitting to somewhere, or simply put new 530 sprockets and chain then enjoy?

Last, I found a chain "Snell" with good price, do anyone have experience with it??

Thanks for advice in advance!

Best,
Ferdinand

Your stock ratio is 2.53 to 1. That would compare to 17/43 tooth, or 18/45 tooth 530 sprocket combo. The 530 is a smaller chain, so there are not clearance issues. It will be a bolt on change. As for number of links, I do not know. You will need more links because the 530 links are about an 1/8 inch shorter then the 630. I would buy the sprockets, and a bulk of 530 O-ring chain of around 110 links. You can always cut the chain to fit.

Thanks for your input. I did a little research, after 81' CB750K starts using 530 108links 18/46 set. Thus I guess this set would be directly put on 80' CB750KZ. The 530 set I saw on ebay and Amazon are for 81'- CB750K I reckon.

Is there anyone still remember how many links? Since buying a set once is cheaper than separate perchance.

Best,

Ferdinand

Just order the stock setup for an 80, 81, or 82. I have a 79 and did that. Stock should be 18/46 and 108 links. Check out the cataloque http://www.jtsprockets.com/catalogue/model/5026
