Removing cylinder head cover

Is it possible to remove the cylinder head cover without removing the engine?

There are a few threads around here discussing cutting those tubes out of your way. If you plan on keeping the bike I'd really consider it JMO.

Oops, sorry for not being clearer. These tubes. Not the backbone, but the two upper cradle tubes that run along side it. These are the only things keeping the valve cover from coming off while the engine is in the frame. If you remove these tubes ( or make them removable ) you can pop it right off.

Now,there is a bit of controversy as to whether you should run without these tubes or not. I'll let you make your own mind up on that. But for what it's worth,my bike did fine without them.Though I did make them removable.Just in case.  And no,the hose clamps are not the permanent fastenersTemporary mock up stuff.

This site was created by ZephAD. He has not been on in ages though, and Rerun runs it now.

I made the cuffs out of 1'' black iron pipe from Lowes. All the bolts were just 1/4'' grade 8's. There were two pieces of 5/16'' plate steel that I drilled and tapped. They were for splicing the top part back together.

You're gonna need more than your trusty 10mm! Youre gonna need a sawall and a couple 7/16's  Go for it dude. You'll be done in no time.Easy job!
