Routing for seat lock cable

narcosis

I'm new to this thread, and I'm hoping someone can help me solve a problem. I am the original owner of a 1993 750 Nighthawk that looked great until recently when it was stolen by meth heads who tore off the fenders, etc. Anyway, I'm trying to put the jigsaw puzzle back together and I'm trying to figure out the proper routing for the seat lock cable. I need to "see" how it goes from the seat latch to the key lock. I realize this would require some disassembly of the tail section, but I can't find a schematic or diagram that shows the route that the cable follows. If anyone knows where I could find a diagram of this or could post a picture of this I would be most grateful.

Well, I am not sure it matters a whole lot if you follow the exact routing. I would just attach the cable at both ends and find a routing that didn't bind. As long as it doesn't bind or get in the way, it should be fine.

Thanks for the reply. The problem is the best I can tell for the lock to work properly it needs just the right tension on the cable so that when the key is turned the seat latch will move, that's why I'm concerned with the cable routing.

If it is a cable inside a sheath, like a throttle cable, it would not matter. The cable will pull the lock no matter how it is run.
