Rubber plug in carbs

Truck
So I'm trying to up my main jets in my carbs. Got new jets in that I've been told fit my model bike.  I attempted to put them in, threaded part is the same, but the head is a larger diameter. There is a rubber plug right next to where I'm trying to insert the jets. Is this rubber cap important? or is this something I can trim/remove? I've looked at several sites and I can't find jets wityh a smaller head and my local Honda dealer is a moran and cant order the right parts (learned this after several failed attempts)

Thanks for the help!
It's only illegal if you get caught.

If at first you don't succeed, use more lighter fluid

The plugs block off the idle jet from the fuel bowl. The idle jets get their fuel through the secondary jet via a passage below the plug. You need these things.
