Well the anti sieze didnt last so i put actual "disc brake quiet" silicone grease on it.That didnt help either. There must be a solution.I have done every trick in the book!
Greased the pads
Piston is sliding freely
Swing joint is swing jointing
Grooved the pads
Chamfered the pads
873 different adjustments on the adj screw
Would having the rotor surfaced do any good?I have a brake lathe, but haven't look to see of i have something that will allow me to chuck it up.
There must be something i can do.I am considering baking the brake fluid out of my old pucks and re-using them. They were silent. The best i can figure is there is a difference in compound creating the noise. These pads stop waaaay better which would lead you to believe they are a harder pad,but my old ones were so wet with fluid its no a fair comparison.Has anyone had experience with Bikemaster pads being noisy before?Who makes a good stopping quiet pad.Eric at the bike shop has a bucket full of calipers off of some newer model bikes salvaged from wrecked bikes.I'll swap out the whole shooting match if need be,but ireally like the looks of these calipers.

Mine only squeal at higher speeds when it's colder than 30 degrees out. I block it out by thinking about how cccccolldd I am!

You know, there is one thing I thought of, but never tried. How about resurfacing the rotor? I'm sure, you know someone with a break lathe.

I got one in the barn.Gonna see if i can get it chucked up this saturday.Mine only squeal below 40 mph and when off of the brakes. It occasionally squeals under braking, but no more than expected.I can deal with noise under braking, not just constantly thru town

Digging up the past. I have tried every piece of advice threw at me to stop my brakes from squealing.Nothing ever worked. A few tricks would work for a few miles, but nothing permanent. I'm convinced it is just the nature of the Bikemaster pucks. Maybe they will quiet after a while, but it's too annoying to wait it out. I got Eric to order me a new set of genuine Honda pucks.Put them on and it is silent as a mouse.I get a tad bit of noise when under hard braking, but only what is to be expected from any disc. Honda baby...they know whats up! I have been over 300 miles since I put the Honda pads on.I waited to post just to be sure it was not a temporary fix as all the others were.So far so good.

I had this happen. The whole thing, I tried everything. Then I asked dad...he's a mechanic instructor...he immediately asked if I had ruled everything else out: pressure issues, stuck piston, etc. He said that this is an age old issue with breaks. He said if you get new brake pads it will fix the issue, for a little while. He said it all depends on how you use your brakes. If you use them to stop on a dime every time, obviously you'll develop issues. The big thing though is if you ride heavy on the breaks for a prolonged period you can score the pads, and they'll develop a hardened surface similar to glass. He told me to take the pads off and rough them up with a wire brush-grinder just lightly. Problem fixed until, I scored the brakes again... So this is another maintenance thing. I have learned that everything has to be just right, and the girlfriend won't complain about the squeaking (while the brakes are NOT applied). I think I am getting close to the end of the road for my current pads, but will most likely have to maintain new ones as well. I hope to also have a "quiet as a mouse," motorcycle like Shinyribs!

They have a spray you can apply to the disk to stop squeeking.
It will go away after some use.

There is an adjustment that pulls the caliper against the rotter . Mine was out of adjustment when I first put it on. After i loosened it the noise went away.

Interesting find, Ribs. My front brake has been squealing (when not being used) on and off these days and I was starting to worry about it but then I saw this post and remembered that it is pretty common. However, trying the original Honda brake pads (is that what you meant by pucks?) will be worth a shot... when and if I can afford it.. LOL

Yep.By pucks I meant pads. My parts guy was calling them pucks and it stuck in my head that day. These Honda pads are silent while rolling but will still squeal when you apply them. I can work with that.
