Running issue

barnfind
Ok, so #4 exhaust from cylinder is hot 2-3 are cold and  cylinder 1 is slightly warm, I'm thinking I have a ignition/ spark issue. The spark plugs are fairly new. The bike won't run unless you hold the throttle open slightly as soon as you let go it dies. Any ideas boys ?

Thanks

Did this just happen all the sudden? I would suspect ignition problem on 2-3 and a carburation problem on #1.

That what I was thinking, 2-3 are on two different coils when I checked the spark on all cylinders they were all weak or no spark at all that I could see, which I know that's normal for these bikes. Should I replace the capacitors on the ignition because I'm using the old point system and the points look fine.

2 and 3 are on the same coil, not different ones. These ignition systems do not make a real impressive spark when working correctly. Using Iridium spark plugs makes a big difference though, and well worth the price. I doubt the condensers are causing the problem. Their main job is to prevent the points from arcing when opening, and burning up. However just because the points look good, does not mean they are working correctly. When the engine starts idling rough, it is usually time to replace the points, and condensers.

I'm using iridium plugs and yes there awesome. It helps if I look at which coil runs what, sorry about that.
I'll look at my 2-3 coil and see what's going on.
Thanks for the help tools

When I ran points, they occasionally had to be dressed. Which is just a fancy way of saying to use a fine file to flatten the points so they contact evenly.
Also, point gap should be checked occasionally to make sure it is within spec.
