Seat Interchangeability

Cabreco
Took the bike out for it's 1st long run (60 miles) and she preformed flawlessly! Took the wife along and even with the added 110 lbs she rode nice. Took her on highway speeds as well as country roads, everything was good. Even the damp oil on the baffle is less.
Anyway, the only complaint the wife had was that the seat was not really comfortable for any sort of long distance riding so my question is what seats interchance with a 1981 CB750K?

I think a Hang 2 Seat (double bucket like the Goldwinds) would probably work well. Am I limited to the 79-83 CB750 or will some SOHC seats fit?

Are there any companies that make Hang 2 Seats?

Can you upload a pic of what you have now?  I know the CB750L seat is pretty decently sized for 2 up riding.  Here's what was on mine:

The big difference is the attachment for this seat: there's a single bolt near the end of the tank, and 2 bolts on the sides near the tops of the shock absorbers.  If your bike has a swing-up attachment, it'll need a bit of fabrication to get it to work. I've got a couple more pics: if you would like them, send me a PM.

I'm sure you can find something on the net somewhere.  Hope this helps.

My seat is exactly like yours

What I am looking for is more like this:

Like you I have a fixed seat ( I wish it was a swing up, it would make battery access a breeze).
I've seen aftermarket vendors but the CB750 must be too old a bike to make seats for.

Understood.  As far as accessories for the CB750, we ARE talking about a 30+ year old bike.  I would say that practically no one is making new stuff in the customization arena for these old horses.

Alternatively, you could find something on EBay, and adapt it.  There are also some sites that talk about modifying or customizing what you've got. Google is your friend.

Perfect example is what Nick 701 has posted for sale on this forum from his 78 750.

Would anyone know if this seat would fit an 81 750K by changing the mounts since this is a swing up seat?

Wish I could tell you if it would fit but I can tell you the name of that style of seat. It is called a king queen seat.
What complaint did your wife have though? Seat too hard, too wide?

The back of the seat hits her right inthe tail bone of her boney little ass.
I guess she misses the padding since she dropped 55 lbs. <lol>
She sat up front an said the stock seat curves up & feels much better than the back.
Thats why I figured this seat would be better since it the rear is the same as the rear.

Well, another option would be to remove the cover, cut the seat foam to fit better and then have a new cover put on. This is if you can't find one that fits. Probably run you about 50-60 to do this I would expect.
