I have a new seating theory for custom built bikes.
If you want mid controls, the most comfortable position,
Just sit on a 5 gallon plastic bucket. Put your feet where they are comfortable.
Thats it.
Your feet will be about 17 inches in front of the bucket measuring from the middle of the bucket.
The plastic bucket is 21 inches tall.
The foot pegs cannot be on the ground and so you must raise up your feet.
When you start to raise your feet up you can only go about 3.5 inches before it is uncomfortable.
If you have forward controls it will require very good back support.
Think chopper with King and Queen seat with plenty of back support.
I am working on my rig now and I want the most comfortable seating period.
I is going to take some work.
I will get the seat right first and as low as possible and then deal with the foot pegs.
The standard forward controls are too high and too far forward.
What i am aiming for is mid/forward controls.
Otherwise, farther forward than stock.
17 inches below seat height ,and 17 inches forward of the center of my seat. Perfect.
The question is will it all work out.
I will post photos.
The stock CB750 seat height was about 31 inches! Way up there. But that
allowed the foot pegs to be 20 inches below the seat height. The right relationship of
seat to peg distance.
