Speedo Issues!

1978Cafe750f
Hey guys,

I've got a 78 750F and I know I am going faster than 35mph the only problem my speedometer isn't.

Is it something a new cable could fix or am I now in the market for a new(er) speedometer?

I doubt it's the cable. Your speedometer is probably corroded inside. Take it out of the housing, and clean it.

Isn't there some damping fluid in the housing? I think thr FSM said not to tip them over, or the fluid would leak out.  Best to check and be sure.

Thanks guys.  I will open it up and see what it looks like. As for the fluids inside ... I've been reading you can put in silicone based differential fluid 20k-30k cs ... stuff they use in RC cars and stuff.  Anything else you guys have ever used?
