Spoke rims? Yes or No?

How bad do spoke rims have to be to need replaced? I am thinking of putting my 1979 spoke rims on my 1981 with mag rims just to go with the old school look. But they have some rust in the middle the rims are not bent just a few scratches hear and there, I am mainly worried about the rust I am going to paint them black anyway. What do you guys think should I just stick with the mags? Are there any pros and cons, looking for some opinions ?

If it's just light pitting, or surface rust, I would not worry. However if they have large patches with deep pitting then I would not use them.
